Life is clicking along nicely now that the drama and trauma of quitting my job has settled a bit. We have a lot coming up in the next couple of weeks, but right now we're celebrating a huge milestone for our younger offspring. To put it in his words, Ethan went pee pee in the potty!
Potty training Abby was a fairly painless, though lengthy, process. Her daycare did the lion's share of the work. Plus she's a girl so the procedure's a cut and dry one. But I have been dreading this stage with Ethan since we knew he was going to be a boy. I have no idea how to tackle it! For the last couple of months, we have been excitedly talking about the potty, hoping to incite interest. He's more than happy to talk about everyone else going, but when we mention his participation, we always get a flat "No." Finally, Matt decided to try a training potty. Genius! Ethan LOVES it. He hangs out there all the time. And he has actually used it for its intended purpose--one time, but whatever! We'll take our victories where we can find them. And yes, maybe he has peed on the bathroom floor too, but as my friend Marla pointed out, at least he got the right room.

YEA, Ethan! How Funny! At the risk of seeming "indelicate", some families assign this training task to the Dad, who is in a position (no pun intended) to do "Show & Tell". Of course it's easy for me to give advice when I had no sons. Ethan will figure it out.

Alright for Ethan!!!! I had a nudy tooty running around for 3 days with a tshirt and socks on...he was 3 and half and he picked it right up!! He was in pull ups at night, for the next 2 or so years, boys don't always want to "wake up" and take care of business!!! Going while you are running their bath always helped too, the sound of the water running!!! You guys will get it!! I can't believe he's getting so big!!!

Yay!! Very exciting! I've a friend who would put a cheerio in the potty for her son to aim at and that seemed to help.
We used a reward system. The dollar store was my friend for a couple of months.
It didn't take long after we started this. First when Mili would go then we would give her a gift. Then after a few times of doing that then she had to go 3 times before getting a gift and then all day and then several days and then all week and then it phased out after several weeks of no accidents.
We probably ended up spending about $20 but it was WELL worth my sanity. Potty training is probably my LEAST favorite thing to do as a mommy....not looking forward to training Sadie.
