Here kid, drink this!

In less than 12 hours, AMEN will be embarking on a 10-day vacation. We'll stay in 2 states and see roughly 200 relatives. I've been saving this last blog entry before we leave to talk about our travel preparations, but in light of recent news, I must first say this:

Oh my WORD Matt found out today that he has to go back to Brazil and he has to leave 3 days after we get back from our trip and they are buying him a ONE WAY TICKET because they don't know how long he will be there but it could be 3 WEEKS or more and now I can't do Boot Camp or even catch up on laundry before he goes (okay, like I would do that anyway) and I am kind of freaking out here, which I don't really have time to be doing because we are leaving in less than 12 hours!

I feel better.

Now, back to the matter at hand. There will be plenty of time to spaz about his trip later. (And yes, Aunt Linda, I KNOW that women whose husbands are in the military and serving overseas have it way worse than me. Not saying their cross to bear isn't bigger than mine--it is. Doesn't mean I don't have one at all.)

Our vacation will present the "opportunity" for our family to be in the car together for over 30 hours. Yeah. Can't wait. As if the task of packing for 4 people isn't enough, I've been constantly thinking about ways to keep the kids from making me poke my eyeballs out on the drives. I read about games, researched interesting pit stops along the way, but finally decided to resort to the most tried and true form of parenting. Bribery.

Surely this aresnal of sugar and cheap toys will do the trick. If not, though, I may have to call upon my lil friend Bennie.*

Wish us luck. Pictures and antecdotes are sure to follow.
* Don't judge me. If you have small kids and you've never given them medicine so they would sleep, you are lying. Besides, I'm only kidding. Really.

You are hilarious! 30 hours in a car does sound pretty scarey! Now I dread the drive even more. Please give me a call after you get there if you discover more awesome ways to occupy the kids! See you in 3 days!

If it encourages you in any way, we just made our own little 1600 mile (one way) road trip with our three girls (4, 3 and 18mo) and it was not that bad at all. I had my own arsenal of bribery and they couldn't have cared less about any of it. It only got rough on the way home when we were all exhausted and sick of being away from home (it was a 2 week trip). Good luck!

Let me know how your bribery items work & where to get some of them. I'm dreading our trip to FL & have been thinking about what things to buy to keep Braxton occupied! Hope you have fun!

Listen, Benadryl is a great med for car sickness, and we both know that ALL kids get "carsick" sometimes :)

Good luck!
