Happy days are here again

I just saw a commercial that made my heart skip a beat with excitement. Was it for a great new restaurant? My favorite cleaning product? No and no. It was a reminder that we are soon going to be treated to that twice-or-thrice weekly roller coaster of ecstacy and agony, American Idol.
(The commercial itself is really quite spectacular. It has David Cook-LOVE him-remembering his rise to superstardom before he hits the stage. Seen it?).

For those of you who don't watch AI, you might as well move on to the next blog in your favorites list for now. For those of you who do know true entertainment when you see it, the commercial got me to thinkin. And you know how that can turn out.

The best part of being an AI fan is hashing over every detail of each episode with everyone you know. When I worked (remember those days?) Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the spring were almost completely devoted to AI discussions. If someone missed an episode, they just stayed home until noon.

So that I can still get my fix, I think I'll do a little AI discussion hosting right here on the blog. I'll post after each show (barring any unforseen circumstances that prevent me from watching the show)(like Ethan throwing the remote through the television) and those of you who watch can give your feedback. Whaddya think? Comment on this post if you think you'll join in the discussion--I'm not going to do it if it's just going to be me and my aunt Linda arguing over whether long hair on a guy is cute or girly. If you don't know me personally but have somehow managed to find redeeming value in reading my blog anyway, PLEASE join in--the more the merrier! Invite your friends! Tell your neighbors! This should be fun.

hey AMENMom,

I've never watched a single episode. But now that I know your a zealot, I'll have motivation. If I catch an episode, you'll know where to find me, right here on the blog. I might miss out on the "which guy is cuter" argument, since I don't like the boys. When's the first episode?

I'm in. I already have it set in my Tivo - as well as the new Biggest Loser and Super Stars of Dance. I'm a reality TV junky :)

Jump right in, Cameron--it will be fun to have the perspective of someone who's never watched. The show starts January 13, but the first few weeks are tryouts and can be quite painful to watch, so prepare yourself!

Well sister, I have news for you! This aunt of your does not even waste my time on AI! If they can't get on DANCING WITH THE STARS, they shouldn't get any where! No, really, I do watch it sometimes- so you know I will add my 2 cents! And just for the record, no boy, young man or older gentleman should wear long hair! Including your cousin, who I would love to have sit in a chair, and use my clippers on- but then he would loose his "rugged good looks", so maybe he can continue to wear his hair at the currnet length, or at least until some girl (other than his cousin or aunt) convinces him to cut it!

Give the kids XXX's and OOO's from me- love, LKM

Count me in! I never miss an episode, as long as it starts after 8:00 pm. :) It's a little distracting around here before bedtime! I can't wait! I'll have Little Jake add his 2 cents as well! Patty

I've never seen it... but will probably follow the craziness on your blog. Because I DO appreciate the entertainment value in THAT. :)

I'm hooked on the new show Momma's Boys-- I can't stop watching it. And My Big Redneck Wedding starts soon! So sad...

How fun! I'll try to remember to post comments when I can sneak viewings in. I LOVE watching the first few weeks of the season. Kind of like watching Jerry Springer but not so skanky! I usually skip it until they whittle it down to about 5 people (it's hard enough to listen to Barry Manillow sing, much less teens sing his songs who think he's the guy who sold them their TV at Best Buy last week!).
